Overview
Patrick Méthode Oakre ED.02 is an experimental Limestone Coast Chardonnay exploring the influence of three different oak vessels. New French oak, an old puncheon and a seasoned red wine barrel each contribute a distinct element to this textural and complex wine.

“Fermented separately in 3 types of oak; new French Barrique, old puncheon and seasoned red wine barrel. Using natural yeast and unfiltered, this wine showcases the expressions of the different oak influence, combined to add their own unique flavour.”
Producer Tasting Notes
“A robust style of Chardonnay combines biscuit and melon fruits, with a bold oak influence. The palate is complex with the new oak adding toastiness, old oak extending the mid palate and red wine barrel adding a hint of ‘ochre’ colour and tannin complexity. An overall balanced and elegant wine that is textural and intriguing.”
Label Artwork
The molecule embossed on the front label represents Caftaric Acid, a naturally occurring phenolic compound that contributes to colour in white wine. For this release, it references the ochre influence derived from Caftaric Acid present in the seasoned red wine barrel.
