Awards, Ratings & Reviews

96/100 — Ray Jordan · 2024 Vintage
“The free-run juice has contributed to a certain pristine quality about the wine, while it retains that fine, elegant precision, delivering a nice mix of citrus and stone fruit and just a faint minerally flintiness. A super wine.”

95+/100 — Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion · 2024 Vintage
“A warmer vintage yet a cool wine. Plenty of flavour and richness, but not at the expense of acidity, freshness and clarity. Some complexing sulphides add to this, sitting neatly with flavours of dried pears, lemon and lime, yet it's super savoury, spicy and moreish. Sits in the fuller-bodied range without being weighty; seems charged with energy/acidity, with a slip of texture - a little buttery and creamy.”

94/100 — Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front · 2024 Vintage
“Old vine Willyabrup chardonnay, fermented in a combination of clay amphora and barrels for ten months, all at the hand of tour-de-force wine-maker-person Nic Peterkin.Concentration of flavour here is excellent, as too is the length of the finish. No signs of a difficult vintage here. Seaspray, green pineapple, cedar, pine, citrus and cooked apple characters sift through hay and rosemary-accented tonic. It smells, feels and tastes the goods, and everything feels well prosecuted.”

About This Wine

This single vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from Willyabrup in Margaret River, grown on gravelly loam soils at 80m elevation, with vines approximately 30 years old and located 5km from the sea.

The fruit was hand picked, chilled overnight and gently pressed as whole bunches with only the free run juice fermented. The wine was fermented in a combination of quartz amphora and oak, then matured in vessel for 11 months with no malolactic fermentation. A portion was fermented in oak (30% new), with the wine lightly filtered prior to bottling.

Producer Notes

Purity, tension and elegance. Pure flavours of Willyabrup chardonnay, peach lemon, lime, green apple, a touch of cream and a hint of flint. The wine will age gracefully for 10 years if cellared correctly.
