The 2023 Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Elsa Sauvignon Blanc is a vibrant and textural Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc that highlights purity, freshness, and refined regional character. Produced by Moss Wood, this wine is sourced from the Ribbon Vale vineyard in the renowned Wilyabrup subregion, an area celebrated for producing elegant and age-worthy white wines.
Named in honour of Clare and Keith Mugford’s granddaughter, Elsa, this wine reflects Moss Wood’s philosophy of crafting Sauvignon Blanc with both aromatic expression and structural depth. The 2023 vintage delivered excellent growing conditions, preserving natural acidity while allowing for bright flavour development and balance.
Fruit was harvested in the cool of the morning and carefully handled to preserve freshness and aromatic precision. Fermentation took place primarily in stainless steel with a portion matured on lees to build texture and complexity while maintaining the wine’s vibrant fruit profile.
The wine opens with lifted aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit, lime zest, and guava, layered with notes of fresh herbs, citrus blossom, and subtle mineral nuance. The palate is lively yet refined, combining bright tropical and citrus fruit with crisp acidity and a gently textured mouthfeel that carries through to a clean, refreshing finish.
Designed for youthful enjoyment, the 2023 Ribbon Vale Elsa Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, oysters, goat cheese, salads, and light Mediterranean cuisine. While best enjoyed for its freshness and aromatic vibrancy, short-term cellaring may add additional complexity.
