Overview
Big Jim represents the best Shiraz grown in the Wark Family's Stonewell vineyard in the Barossa Valley. Low vineyard yields give the 2022 considerable concentration, while 18 months in new French and seasoned oak builds spice, structure and depth into its powerful Barossa Shiraz character.

The Shiraz is sourced from the Wark Family's vineyard at Stonewell in the Barossa Valley. Low yields contribute to the concentration and intensity of the wine.
Winemaking
The wine was matured for 18 months in a combination of 50% new French oak hogsheads and 50% seasoned oak, enhancing its spice characters and contributing fine structure.

Teusner Wines: “This wine is black in the glass and the rich Shiraz flavours are super concentrated courtesy of the low yields in the vineyard. 18 months ageing in a mix of 50% new French hogsheads and 50% seasoned oak has lifted the spice notes to a new level and given the wine really fine structure.”

92/100 — Huon Hooke: “Very deep, dark, saturated red/purple colour; massively ripe and quite oaky bouquet with fruitcake, dark chocolate, raisin and preserved plum aromas. The wine is full bodied, rich and superripe with lavishly oaked dark fruitcake and chocolate/mocha flavours that are underlined by drying and slightly grippy tannins. Good concentration and retains freshness despite its superripeness.”
