The 2022 Bodega Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard ‘Fortuna Terrae’ Malbec is one of Argentina’s most profound and terroir-driven expressions of Malbec. Produced by Catena Zapata, this single-vineyard wine originates from the legendary Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza, often regarded as one of South America’s greatest vineyard sites.
Named “Fortuna Terrae,” meaning “luck of the earth,” the wine is sourced from a unique parcel within Adrianna Vineyard where deep alluvial soils contribute richness, texture, and remarkable aromatic complexity. Situated at high altitude in the foothills of the Andes, the vineyard benefits from intense sunlight, cool nights, and low yields, producing fruit with exceptional concentration, freshness, and precision.
The 2022 vintage delivered excellent balance and purity, allowing the vineyard’s character to shine with clarity and finesse. In the winery, fruit was hand-harvested and fermented with careful extraction to preserve detail and structure. Maturation in French oak barrels enhanced complexity and integration while maintaining focus on site expression rather than overt oak influence.
The wine reveals intense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum layered with notes of violet, graphite, crushed stone, dark chocolate, and subtle spice. The palate is powerful yet beautifully refined, showing concentrated dark fruit, vibrant acidity, and finely textured tannins that carry through to an exceptionally long and mineral-driven finish.
Still youthful and tightly structured, the 2022 Fortuna Terrae Malbec will reward extended cellaring over 15–25+ years, developing further savoury and tertiary complexity with age. Decanting is recommended if enjoyed young.
