Overview
A traditional yet elegant Brunello from Belpoggio’s estate near Castelnuovo dell’Abate in southern Montalcino. Made entirely from Sangiovese Grosso, the 2019 combines ripe cherry fruit, floral and citrus detail with savoury spice, mineral freshness and finely structured tannins. It is a poised, age-worthy expression of the estate’s warm yet well-ventilated terroir.
Vineyard
Belpoggio is situated near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, south-east of Montalcino and close to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo. The high-elevation vineyards lie on steep, rocky slopes, with the influence of Monte Amiata and the surrounding valleys helping moderate the growing conditions and preserve freshness in Sangiovese.
Winemaking
The 2019 was made using traditional vinification with extended skin contact, followed by approximately 36 months of maturation in large oak casks. Further bottle refinement before release allows the wine’s tannins, savoury complexity and aromatic detail to integrate.

Belpoggio is a small family project established in Montalcino by the Martellozzo family in 2005. Located near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, the estate focuses on Sangiovese and produces Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino with an emphasis on elegance, savoury character and clear expression of place.
The vineyards occupy steep, rocky terrain influenced by the nearby Monte Amiata and the valleys surrounding the estate. Belpoggio favours restrained winemaking and traditional élevage, allowing Sangiovese to develop complexity while retaining freshness and fine structural detail.
