Overview
La Grande Année is Bollinger's expression of an exceptional vintage, combining the House's traditional oak-barrel vinification with extended maturation. The 2015 vintage is characterised by concentration, generosity and a distinctive vinous texture, balancing ripe fruit, depth and freshness.
The blend comprises 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 11 crus. Pinot Noir is sourced principally from Verzenay, Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, while Chardonnay comes mainly from Chouilly and Avize.
Vintage
Warm, sunny conditions shaped the 2015 growing season, moderated by periods of rain. Harvest began on 4 September, with small, compact berries and high acidity contributing concentration, structure and precision to the finished wine.
Winemaking
Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels, preserving a hallmark of traditional Bollinger winemaking. The Champagne is matured for more than twice the minimum period required by the appellation before being riddled and disgorged by hand. Dosage is 8g/L.

NOSE
“Initial scents are full of small stone fruits, with notes of Pomme Gris, plum and Mirabelle plum, layered with a touch of honey. … Exotic touches of mango follow, dissolving into tertiary scents of vanilla and a delicate woody aroma.”
PALATE
“On the palate the wine is plump, generous and enticing, reminiscent of Mirabelle plum jam. Texture and richness define the tasting experience. The finish blends notes of chocolate and citrus fruits, bringing a touch of acidity, lengthened further by hints of schist.”
