The 2011 combines the power and structure associated with Bonnes-Mares with Roumier’s characteristic finesse, fragrance and persistence. Vineyard
Bonnes-Mares is one of the two Grand Cru vineyards associated with Chambolle-Musigny, lying at the northern end of the village beside Morey-Saint-Denis. Roumier’s holdings encompass both principal soil types of the vineyard: the upper “Les Terres Blanches”, with calcareous marl rich in fossil material, and the lower “Les Terres Rouges”, with clay-limestone soils over compact Bathonian limestone.
The two terroirs contribute contrasting elements to the finished wine. Les Terres Rouges brings richness, texture and red to dark fruit, while Les Terres Blanches contributes spice, floral character and minerality. The components are vinified separately before being brought together for ageing and bottling.
