Overview
Cullen Diana Madeline is one of Margaret River’s benchmark Cabernet-based wines, combining Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The 2011 vintage shows the poise, structure and longevity associated with this flagship Cullen release, with mature complexity now emerging alongside cassis, cedar and fine tannins. Critical acclaim includes 97 points from Halliday Wine Companion and 96 points from Huon Hooke.
Winemaking
Fermentation involved a combination of closed tanks, open fermenters, barrels and amphora, with skin-contact periods ranging from 10 to 99 days depending on the individual batch. The wine spent 13 months in French oak, including 50% new oak, using a mixture of barriques and puncheons.
