In 2022, we embarked on an exciting new chapter for our family wine business - purchasing a special site deep in the heart of the Coal River Valley in Tasmainia.  We continue the same philosophy at our Tasmanian vineyard, and we are excited to introduce our inaugural expressions of this site - a single vineyard chardonnay and pinot noir from the 2023 vintage.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e2023 Was a cool and particularly dry, later season in the Coal River Valley.  Small crops and lovely balance in the vineyard.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/section\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"panel\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"v65-wine-wineMakerNotes v65-product-attribute\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"v65-product-attributeValue\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWinemaking\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"v65-product-attributeValue\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMV6 (40%), G5V15 (40%), Abel (12%), 667 (5%) D4V2 (3%) from blocks 1, 2 5 and 3. The fruit was handpicked between 14 – 20 March, with each parcel handled separately in the winery. Hand sorted and carefully de-stemmed, the whole berries were then transferred to oak fermentation vats for natural fermentation. A small portion (10-20%) of whole bunches were used in 2023. Once fermentation was complete, the wines were transferred to French 500L oak barrels for maturation, 25% of which were new.
